Welcome to Woody Sed, a new musical play about the life and times of Woody Guthrie and the remarkable songs he sang.
This play was born out of the sheer astonishment Thomas Jones experienced learning about Woody’s life and the relevance to the world we live in today. Woody Sed is loaded with songs both well-known and obscure, and each song is framed a theatrical context.
Rated PG. 90 Minutes. No intermission.
Written by John Murphy
Produced by and featuring Thomas Jones.
” … the engaging Jones summons back the genial spirit of ol’ Woody for one more concert.”

“Touching, funny, and full of heartbreak, Woody Sed is a powerful piece delivered by a powerhouse talent.”
– JZ, Uptown Entertainment Magazine
“In Woody Sed, solo performer Jones elevates the story beyond a straightforward biography, not only performing Guthrie’s songs, but also portraying Guthrie’s wife, daughter, radio producers, and other musicians who shaped the man’s body of work. Jones’ training in theatrical styles such as Kabuki, Clown, and Improv is on display as he effortlessly switches back and forth between the roster of characters.
I particularly enjoyed his performance of a duet between Guthrie and his female musical partner Lefty Lou, where a shift of the posture and a glint in the eyes said as much as the changing lilt of voice.”
